Mow to end the week. From a concert given during the Primavera Sound Festival 2019 in Barcelona earlier this year. I ran a session from Mow last year and thought I would check in and see what she’s up to a year later.

Here’s the latest rundown on her, via Subterfuge Records (Gist Translation warning!):

MOW is the musical project of Gabriela Casero, a young Madrid girl with a velvety voice that combines elements of pop and electronics in a proposal of overwhelming personality.

An abandoned guitar and the attempt to conquer a boy from his institute led the Madrilenian to sit down and create songs. After playing for a few years with the guitar, MOW decided to evolve and play with electronic elements. From the beginning she looked for a sound referenced by artists such as Angel Olsen , Margaret Glaspy , Sùcre , Sea Oleena , Lydia Ainsworth , Violents and some tacky remix … Influenced by details of the creations of these artists, she managed to create one of the most original proposals and with greater personality today.

Her astronomical shyness ends up becoming the greatest feature and virtue of his proposal. After the English language and electronic elements, she camouflages herself to assemble her songs and transmit stories.

Surprised a year ago with “Grasiah” , a first single that discovered a talented young woman with an ethereal and singular voice with a speech between dream pop and elegant electronics. With just uploading her songs to the digital platforms she managed to sneak into the 50 most viral Spotify USA with her song Dr.Mike Alon, got considerable airplay via American college radio and so on to get a nomination as best BSO at La Jolla Film Festival (California. It is the most important festival in the world of fashion films) by Lizard Party , performing this past June at the Sònar – the international festival of advanced music in Barcelona – or being at the international eventSwatch Creative Natives .

“Woman” is titled her first album, is published on CD and digital and contains 10 songs that present one of the talents of the new generation of creators of our country with more international projection.

Better yet, fall by the Subterfuge site and check out her records as well as a very interesting roster of other artists from this new and innovative label.

In the meantime, hit the play button and enjoy.
