At the age of twelve, Marlon entered the young talent class of the Royal Conservatory, where he studied guitar and composition. As a student of Zoran Dukic and Enno Voorhorst, he obtained his Master’s degree. For his final exam he obtained the rating “10 with distinction”. Marlon continued his guitar studies with Joaquin Clerch at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf, where he successfully completed the Konzerx exam in 2009.
Marlon won prizes at more than twenty international competitions in six countries, including first prize at the prestigious Michele Pittaluga International Guitar Competition in Italy in 2005. In the same year, he played live on television for HM Queen Beatrix on the occasion of her 25th government anniversary .
From 2010 to 2018, Marlon was a teacher of guitar at the Fontys School of the Arts in Tilburg.
As a guitarist, Marlon performed in Europe, the USA, Asia, Russia, Central America and the Middle East. He has played as a soloist with orchestras, including the State Hermitage Orchestra St. Petersburg, the Orchester National de Lille and the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen. As a composer, Marlon is a laureate of the Princess Christina Competition. Marlon composed for the Residentie Orkest, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and the Cello Octet Amsterdam.
Marlon is a board member of the New European Ensemble and Casa Bilingual Montessori School.
