It’s Spring. It will be Summer soon – but not soon enough. That period between Spring Break and Summer Vacation is deadly and it’s the same every year. Nothing happens – time crawls by. You feel like your life is completely taken over by studying. You have no social life. Your friends are stuck doing the same thing. There’s nothing going on. You are convinced this is the way your life is going to be forever – one big Study Hall with breaks for lunch and an overwhelming desire to fall asleep.

You have taken to staring at the clock during 6th period – you swear it doesn’t move. Three o’clock is an eternity – all you want is the beach – and waves – and the sun. That’s it – nothing else. But it’s never going to happen – you’re convinced – this is the way your life is going to be forever – this moment; this slow and boring moment.

And there’s lunch – you’re too broke to go off campus – you’re stuck with Mystery Meat and greasy cinnamon rolls – no wonder you’re breaking out. Your face is a mess – you’re convinced nobody wants to be in the same room as you. The phone has stopped ringing – the weekends are one big dental appointment – staring at books, writing term papers – wondering if you are ever-ever-ever going to fall in love during this lifetime.

The only thing that’s saving you from going straight out of your mind is your radio. It is wasn’t for The Real Don Steele your life would be a mess – a big, boring, slow moving mess.

Spring 1968 – and you wonder if Spring 1969 is going to be the same way. And what’s going to happen when you turn 21?

Oh – the future.

And from May 25, 1968 the best distraction for a life stuck in slow is a two-hour blast of The Real Don Steele from Boss Radio – maybe not a cure for everything, but certainly takes your mind off what’s in front of you; a little relief from face-masks, staying-at-home, listening to bleak news and pondering an insane life. Crank it up and enjoy – you can even repeat!
