Junodream – in session for John Kennedy – Radio X – August 27, 2021 – Radio X, London –
Junodream in an “isolation session” (i.e. social distancing in the studio) from just a few days ago via Radio X in London and John Kennedy’s X-Posure program.
With news surfacing of clubs and concert venues slowly opening back up, bands are literally chafing at the bit to get back in front of a live audience, things are looking hopeful there will be an almost back-to-normal return to live gigs, at least around the UK, just as it’s picking up here in the U.S., although with a certain degree of trepidation owing to the latest surge in the COVID variants that are hitting fast and hard.
Still, the anticipation of bands getting back to hitting the road is high, and Junodream are hoping to hit the road starting in November. Fingers crossed,.
In the meantime, they did a session for John Kennedy which features material off their new ep, and if the live version of these songs is on the level of what the ep is like, it’s a must-get at the first opportunity.
Over the course of three independently released EP’s, junodream have earned airplay from Radio 1, Radio X and BBC Introducing Hot List for their previous single ‘easy life’ alongside numerous tips from key new music champions. The 5-piece have started to add to their tally of 5 million streams by kickstarting 2021 with new single ‘Eden Burns’ – it looks set to be their biggest year yet.
Inspired by the likes of Radiohead, Blur and Coldplay, ‘Eden Burns’ demonstrates that their sound continues to evolve in unexpected directions. It stirs elements of angular post-punk energy, anxious rhythms and a cinematic scale hook into their already sprawling array of influences such as Alvvays, King Krule and Joy Division. Ed Vyvyan’s vocals are also utterly distinctive as he contrasts a stuttering staccato with full-voiced melody.
