Liam Gallagher – live at TRNSMT 2021 – Recorded September 12, 2021 – BBC Radio Scotland –

Liam Gallagher to end the week with a standout performance at TRNSMT 2021 in Glasgow, September 12th. With the ban on outdoor concerts being lifted starting at the beginning of September, everything got turbo-charged that weekend. It was only fitting that Gallagher was the headliner Saturday night.

If it was possible to levitate the entire festival that night, it came close as the level of energy was bordering on kinetic. At one point early on in his performance, Gallagher confessed he missed the hell out of Glasgow – Glasgow responded in kind and it was hard to tell who missed who more.

Because of that, it’s safe to say this was a milestone concert; one that will go down as the time Music breathed a sigh of relief and was glad to join the world once more. You can never take the place of live music – there is an energy exchange between artist and audience that is transformative and can’t be duplicated anyplace else – this festival was full of those moments – this one was the capper.

And of course it’s kicking off what’s going to be a landmark 2022 for Liam Gallagher, with a concert that promises to be one of “biblical proportions” at Knebworth, scene of the landmark series of Oasis concerts in 1996 and celebrating what will be 25 years since that career-defining moment took place.

Lots has changed in 25 years, a worldwide pandemic being just one of them – solo careers for the Gallagher brothers. The whole nature of the music business changed – going from Vinyl to CD’s to streaming and now back to Vinyl. Who would have imagined?

Been a long, strange year – nice to see glimmers of hope appearing on the horizon. Everything is going to be okay.

Enjoy the concert – and crank it up.
