As the restrictions and closures ease up and life starts returning to somewhat normal, the club and concert scenes are slowly happening again. High on the list of bands and artists to “keep an eye on” before the pandemic hit and roaring back to catch up for lost time is Nadia Sheikh – who made her debut in 2018, got tons of support via BBC 6 Music, RNE Radio 3, Radio X and many others – press reviews were all raves and she was designated the up-and-coming artist to watch in the coming months. A tour opening for The Stereophonics was slated to begin in February of 2020 – and then lockdown.

Like just about every artist affected by this strange and sudden turn of events, the creative urge must flourish where it can and the time was spent writing and recording. For Nadia the fruits of that labor arrived on November 26th in the form of Undefined, a new ep and a round of club dates with her band around London over the next few weeks.

Hitting the ground running with a captivating soundscape and other-worldly voice, Nadia Sheikh is wasting no time picking up where she left off, and this latest session which she recorded with her band for Radio X and the John Kennedy Program gives you a delicious sample of what’s in store for the live gigs.

Although there is an aura of familiarity in the style of her voice, the artistic intentions and execution are solely hers and perhaps that might be a selling point for a larger audience. Needless to say, Nadia Sheikh is certainly an artist to keep an eye on and I can predict her magic will have universal appeal.
