Love ‘N’ Joy – In Session for Vertuha Arts Festival, Kyiv – Kepsky Spravy – March 29, 2021 –

Since there’s been a LOT of attention focused on Ukraine of late, I thought it would be a good idea to shed a little light on what is becoming a very vibrant and potent music scene in that particular section of the world. Love ‘N’ Joy are just the tip of the musical iceberg. Here’s what Drowned In Sound Magazine had to say recently:

“Three men united by a deep love for the classic 60s sound, psychedelia, British pop, a sense of optimism and positivity. The group – who are based in Kiev – have been performing together since 2015, and have recently started to spread their wings outside the eastern European nation to tour in Switzerland, France, Poland, Germany, and further afield.”

Since COVID has managed pretty nicely to screw everything up for a lot of people, there are glimmers of things to celebrate. One being time to go exploring and see who else is out there – and luckily enough, bands and artists have taken advantage of this sudden isolation and made it work in their favor. Love ‘n’ Joy released their debut album in 2019 and are working on getting it out there. You can grab a copy via their Bandcamp website, as well as all their other releases either as downloads or vinyl. They have a website where you can find out about upcoming shows (which there aren’t at the moment) and generally sign up for their newsletter to stay on top of things.

Before the Panemic hit, they were in the midst of stretching their wings, heading west and did make it to the UK for a few date. I suspect they’ll be picking up where they left off so maybe, just maybe, they might make it over to this side of the Atlantic. Of course, now that COVID appears to be easing up we now have international tensions to contend with and Ukraine is smack in the middle of that. I just hope Love ‘n’ Joy manage to stay out of the line of fire keep making mind-blowing music.

This is why you have to go exploring – this is why the world is a whole lot smaller than you thought. This is why you need music now more than ever.

Crank it up and send good vibes.
