Diving back into the International side of things during this Pandemic. A concert by Austrian singer-songwriter Oska, performing to a socially distanced crowd and captured for posterity by West German Radio.
Very new to the scene, making her debut in 2020, releasing her debut single in the Autumn, right in the middle of lockdown. Needless to say, it could have put a damper on things. But Oska has, in a very short period of time, gotten positive word of mouth as well as Press. So gaining momentum, even in these strange times hasn’t posed much problem. As restrictions have slowly been lifting and at least some semblance of Festival season got a delayed start in 2021. This performance by way of Reeperbahn 2021 sounds sparsely populated by an audience, but that’s the norm for Social Distancing during festival season (most places) gives the impression the artists and bands are playing to empty cavernous venues.
Growing up in a small village in Lower Austria, OSKA moved to Vienna at 18 to study her first love; music. Born into a family of singers and musicians, she discovered her voice at a young age. In Vienna, she started busking in streets and squares of the capital while also studying pop and jazz singing. She has worked tirelessly drafting and crafting her imminent debut, honing her voice to say exactly what she wants it to. After years in the background supporting and featuring for different artists, OSKA released “Distant Universe” and has signed to Nettwerk.
