Tape Holder – One of the most underrated bands in Ukraine.

Tape Holder – In Concert at the 2015 Sixteenplus Festival, Kyiv – Ukraine TV Recording –

Tape Holder in concert tonight. From the 2015 Sixteenplus Festival in Kyiv.

I don’t know a whole lot about this band. I don’t know when they got started. They have a Soundcloud page and most of their material is around the 2015 period. So it’s not clear what they’re up to, especially now.

One of the upshots of expressing an interest in what a particular country is doing musically, is that you are greeted with a veritable rabbit hole of discoveries to make. And those discoveries lead to other discoveries and before you know it, you’ve discovered at least 20 bands you didn’t know about when you started.

The Ukraine Music website Inspired ran an article in January 2016, listing Tape Holder as one of the 50 best albums of 2015 with their album Amplicionism:

“Amplicionism” is a short story, divided into five parts, which is an audiovisual visualization of life processes. They are cyclical and are found everywhere. This will help to find a response in the stories. It is impossible to say that one track is one finished thought. All of them will sooner or later become a sequel or a harbinger of another. Each part of the audio recording is a separate understanding tool. Here you will rarely hear recurring motives”.

Other sites indicate that Tape Holder is one of the great underrated bands of Ukraine. And I would agree with them.

Hopefully, this post might help shed some light and take them out of hiding.

As always – enjoy the music but keep Ukraine close to you and help however you can.
