Swear I Love You – modern day psychedelia.

Back over to Switzerland to start the week with a set by Swear I Love You, recorded September 1, 2021.

Swear I Love You is a Swiss band formed in 2019. Their sound is expansive, equal parts heavy and ethereal, stained with an alpine kind of psychedelia, inspired by forests, mountains and (magic) mushrooms, flying clouds and a golden translucent low-angled light glowing through the dark foliage and prairie wildflowers.
The band is highly influenced by Brian Jonestown Massacre and early Black Angels. Novelty comes hand in hand with a renewed collective enthusiasm channeled through the music composition and performance of their hypnotic and captivating tunes.

Forming and getting started shortly before the Pandemic struck and shut the entire world down, Swear I Love You was just getting things rolling before the notion of closed venues and social distancing turned everything upside down. And even though it set things back, it wasn’t as disastrous a situation as it was for some. This particular concert, done for RTS and the series Couleur 3 Live, it was a session done to no audience (hence, no applause or interactions).

Still, even with the handicaps, Swear I Love You has managed to convey the essence of what the band is about; a mixture of 70’s Psychedelia with 90s Indie, crafted and blended together into an engaging and heady landscape of sound.

With their debut album issued in February 2021 and a new ep currently out making the rounds, it will be interesting to see where this band is heading on what looks like a very promising journey.

Enjoy the gig.
