Three tracks from Anon Playable Cloud – Pet Shimmers – Released December 23, 2022 –
Last week of 2022 with some favorites, starting off with a new release by Pet Shimmers, one of my favorite bands of these past several years. This one comes by way of a cassette tape/download from their Bandcamp page and includes a strictly limited edition cassette version (200 copies).
As always, Pet Shimmers has put together another superb collection of songs, providing further evidence this is a band with a future, who have already let us know they intend to stick around for as long as it takes to get the message across.
With any luck, the wait should be pretty much over, since the end of the lockdown/social-distancing atmosphere of the COVID world for a good two years, many bands have either called in absent, broken up, gone onto extended hiatus or as getting their land-legs back together. Pet Shimmers has already been out and about and 2023 is looking up if their new album is any indicator.
The three tracks I’ve added tonight are: 1. Swan Ton – 2. Low Motion and 3. NPC – all are standout tracks in a standout album, and I would urge you to get over to their Bandcamp site and avail yourself of at least the stream.
My biggest hope is that Pet Shimmers finally pop the cherry and come over to the States, at least for a few dates on each coast – I have a strong suspicion they will be welcome with open arms. Or at least a gig or two at SXSW early next year. They are a good band with a lot to say and they need to get it out to a bigger audience.
