Yo La Tengo – In Session – 2023 – Past Daily Soundbooth

Yo La Tengo – hitting the road starting tomorrow, on a massive worldwide tour.

Yo La Tengo – in session for Radio X – John Kennedy – February 10, 2023 – Radio X, London –

Yo La Tengo tonight. On the eve of what promises to be a massive worldwide tour promoting their latest album, “This Stupid World”, which also hit the streets earlier this month, garnering a pile of good reviews. It also marks 30 years since Yo La Tengo first signed to Matador Records and released their debut album, Painful and 40 years since their first public performance in Georgia. And auspicious year, all the way around.

Pitchfork had this to say: “On their liveliest album in at least a decade, indie rock’s most steadfast institution squares up against ubiquitous darkness. This Stupid World is just a particularly timely chapter in the modest saga of indie rock’s most unassuming institution. Its songs capture not only the darkness so many of us feel with each waking day but also the impulse to keep waking, to keep going. “This stupid world, it’s killing me,” the trio finally offers as one on the title track, a mighty shoegaze wonder where distortion and feedback thread together like a warm blanket. “This stupid world, it’s all we have.” It’s a mantra shared among pals holding each other up, now extended to the world beyond their cozy Hoboken studio. They know how this thing ends, and they play on anyway.”

So this latest tour kicks off in Seattle on February 15th and winds up (so far) in Bordeaux in May. I suspect there are a bunch of Festival dates pending.

From what I hear, tickets are going fast, so if you happen to be anywhere near any of the towns they are playing, you would wise to head over and grab what you can. I have a feeling this is going to be a big deal.

In the meantime – sit back and crank it up. Yo La Tengo did this session for Radio X via Zoom just last week for John Kennedy.
