– Tina Turner – Live At Park West, Chicago – August 17, 1984 –

With the sad news today of the passing of the legendary Tine Turner, our year of loss in the music world is compounded. This post was originally published in 2015 and I’m offering it here as a tribute to one of the icons of the Rock world, an irreplaceable legend – the one and only Tina Turner

Tina Turner was, without a doubt, the most energetic, charismatic, non-stop performer in Rock. Having had one career, early on as half the duo of Ike & Tina Turner, with a string of hits in the early 1960s, and later her much publicized divorce from Ike Turner and reinvention as a solo artist in the late 70s and early 1980s – and her huge worldwide success as the result, Tina Turner has been one of the truly legendary names in Rock history.

This concert, from August of 1984, puts her right at her huge success period of the 80s, with Pop anthems like What’s Love Got To Do With It and Private Dancer, its a Tina Turner Tour de Force.

Now a Swiss citizen and living in Zurich, Tina Turner hasn’t performed for a while. But her reputation and her legendary recordings will stay forever.

As a reminder of what a dynamic and unforgettable performer Tina Turner was, here is that concert, live from Park West in Chicago, on August 17, 1984.

Crank it up and get moving!

And while you’re here . . .you know we don’t run ads – stopped running them more than a few years ago. The ads were noisy and pretty awful and they were a huge distraction, having to wade through a lot of useless barking in order to get to the good stuff. But we still have to pay the bills, and there’s a ton of them and they don’t like to wait. And so we ask you consider becoming a subscriber and support all the stuff we do every day by kicking in what amounts to being an Americano Grande every month to be part of the solution and not the problem. In todays bizarre economy it ain’t much – but it means a ton to Past Daily. All you have to do (and we make this as simple and pain-free as possible) is head over to Patreon (that red box just below that says “Become A Patron” that you click on) and check us out. You can do 7 days free just to kick the tires and take a test drive. And if you like us, hit the subscribe button and become part of our rather haywire little family. Not bad, considering we just want you to like us.
