Repion – Live At International Museum Day, Madrid – 2023 – Past Daily Soundbooth – Rock Without Borders

Repion
Repion – growing leaps and bounds.

Repion – in concert from Reina Sophia Museum – International Museum Day, Madrid – May 18, 2023 – Radio Nacional España –

Jumping over to Madrid tonight for a short appearance by Repion, recorded live at Reina Sophia Museum on the occasion of International Museum Day in Madrid just a few days ago and broadcast/streamed live by Radio Nacional España Radio 3.

Repion are another one of those bands I predicted big things for, and as my hunches have a good track record, they are doing just that. I last posted a session from them in February of this year and here is their latest. International Museum Day was a weekend long festival, covering bands across a wide swath of Spanish Musical life, playing at various museums around Madrid. And even in the three months since the last session, the Iñesta Sisters (Guitarist Marina and Drummer Teresa) have been polishing their chops and ramping up their energy. They are taking this thing seriously and the non-stop working is paying off.

Both sisters are treating Repion as a sort of homebase, while making excursions and collaborations with other bands. Teresa appears to be knee-deep in two other groups; Aiko al Grupo where she plays guitar and sings, and Yawners where she drums. While Marina has been gigging with Mikel Erenxtun. It’s been a beneficial experience and it has added a cutting edge to Repion’s sound. Their latest self-titled album,is a further exploration into a Spanish hybrid of Grunge-Pop but with a lot of passion and insight.

Enthusiastically considered one of the 10 current Spanish bands you need in your life, their popularity is growing substantially on a weekly basis.

And even though this concert appearance clocks in at just under ten minutes, it certainly makes the case for wanting to hear more. I would suggest grabbing a copy of their latest (can’t find the vinyl or CD versions, but I’m sure I’m not looking in the right place).

In the meantime . . .

And while you’re here . . .you know we don’t run ads – stopped running them more than a few years ago. The ads were noisy and pretty awful and they were a huge distraction, having to wade through a lot of useless barking in order to get to the good stuff. But we still have to pay the bills, and there’s a ton of them and they don’t like to wait. And so we ask you consider becoming a subscriber and support all the stuff we do every day by kicking in what amounts to being an Americano Grande every month to be part of the solution and not the problem. In todays bizarre economy it ain’t much – but it means a ton to Past Daily. All you have to do (and we make this as simple and pain-free as possible) is head over to Patreon (that red box just below that says “Become A Patron” that you click on) and check us out. You can do 7 days free just to kick the tires and take a test drive. And if you like us, hit the subscribe button and become part of our rather haywire little family. Not bad, considering we just want you to like us.
