Jody And The Jerms – Intuition – 2023 – Past Daily Nights At The Round Table

Jody And The Jerms – Intuition –

Jody And The Jerms are a six piece outfit from Oxford, who formed in 2019. The band was founded by former members of The Anydays (who notably supported Radiohead and Supergrass in the 90s), and they are fronted by the singular Jody, who remarkably had never sung in front of anyone until she joined the band.

Their latest single, Intuition is one extended delight. All those catchy and infectious elements of Pop that have made bands like Jody and The Jerms so irresistible are on full display here. You can’t help but love it.

Hard to imagine the band have been together such a short time, and with no less than three albums to their credit since 2019. Harder even to imagine they were as productive as they were, getting started smack in the middle of the COVID Pandemic lockdown, when many artists waited for things to return to normal, artists like Jody and The Jerms were busy honing a sound, putting together tracks, getting ep’s ready for release and getting airplay from the likes of BBC 6 Music and Radio X.

In light of the grim atmosphere of the outside world during those uncertain days that felt like a million years ago, the world of Jody and The Jerms was endlessly optimistic, and so this single is a testament as to just how good things can get if you refuse to be sidetracked.

And even though it makes no demands, repeat playings of Intuition are a given. Ten playings so far and it still feels fresh and upbeat. I haven’t had a chance to check out the rest of their recent lp, Wonder which came out in April. But if Intuition is any indication of what Jody and the Jerms is all about – I would say we’re in good hands.

Do yourself a favor and head over to their site and grab a few things. Support is always encouraged – and the payoff lasts forever.
