Cloth In Session – Glasgow 2023 – Past Daily Soundbooth

Cloth – in session for Roddy Hart – The Quay Sessions – BBC Scotland – June 28, 2023 – BBC Radio Scotland –
Cloth in session tonight. Recorded live at BBC Scotland in Glasgow for Roddy Hart’s Quay Sessions series this past June. It occurred to me that this is the second time in as many months that I have run a session by Cloth – the first being for John Kennedy at Radio X and now this one for BBC Radio Scotland for Roddy Hart’s Quay Sessions series. Yes, they are getting the word out in a very big way – plus they are touring, plus they are promoting their new single, Clump and the premier of their latest video, Ambulance which debuted only a few days ago.
In short, they are busy – and they are doing all those things busy bands do when they are smack in the middle of getting their message across. So far this Summer they have already gone down extremely well on the Festival circuit all around Europe with particularly good notices for their appearance at the Latitude Festival from just the other day. They are wasting no time and they are ignoring no opportunity to play, chat, demonstrate, prove they are serious and have some seriously good things to say,
I have to admit, bands like Cloth (the twin brother and sister Paul and Rachel Swinton) and drummer Clare Gallacher are all the things I enjoy the most about music – the sincerity and the commitment – no venue too small, no distance too big – as well as the willingness to do what it take for as long as it takes to be heard. It’s a nice quality, an admirable one – and the Swinton Twins are displaying all the talent and perseverance necessary to weather the good breaks and bad.
So maybe I run the risk of overdoing it by running two sessions in two months from two different stations – nothing wrong with that. I believe in them. It’s the least I can do.
Crank it up and enjoy.
