A repost from a few years ago. A significant and historic club date by a Jazz legend, gone way too soon before his time.

Recognized early-on for his considerable talent, 26 year-old Clifford Brown was well on his way to becoming one of leading lights in Jazz when his career was cut short by a tragic car accident in June of 1956. He left behind precious little in the way of studio recordings, but enough to be a heavy influence to many  up-and-coming Jazz Trumpeters over the years.

This rare and possibly last recording, made at The Basin Street in New York on May 6, 1956, features Brown along with Max Roach, sharing the stage with The Erroll Garner Trio.

It gives some clue as to what the Jazz world missed.
