Giving retro a rest for the remainder of the weekend. Mogwai have made an indelible impression on the Rave community. As one of those post-rock bands who have plumbed the vast reaches of dreamscape, Mogwai have created a heady mixture of noise, shoegaze, a bit of Art Rock with a dash of Metal here and there. They’ve been at it since 1995 and have an impressive 8 albums to their credit.
This concert, recorded by BBC Glasgow on January 20, 2014 at the Centre of Contemporary Art in Glasgow and relayed by Sveriges Radio P3 just recently. In Sweden they are characterized as “distorted melancholy” – further evidence their influence is world wide.
If you aren’t familiar with them – what are you waiting for? You’ve had 9 years to check them out. Don’t wait any longer.
A luxuriant sampling from a band refusing to play it safe.
Lucky us.
