Temples – in concert from Lausanne, Switzerland – April 20, 2017 – RTS

Temples in concert this week. Live from Les Docks in Lausanne, Switzerland and recorded this past April 20th.

One of the bands pioneering Neo, or New Psych, Temples have gotten off to a good start and have been continuing to gather crowds and a fanbase ever since their 2012 debut. From the get-go they were a band to watch, and they’ve made good on the claim these past few years. With two albums under their belt, the band have made great strides. From their initial U.S. tour in 2014 where they made their U.S. TV debut on the Jimmy Fallon Tonight Show as well as Ellen Degeneres. It’s done a lot to establish a presence for the band on this side of the Atlantic.

This concert, and the tour that is going along with it are promoting the release of their second lp, Volcano which was issued on March 20th of this year. In addition to this appearance at Les Docks in Lausanne, they have a full schedule planned which is also taking in the U.S., with an appearance at the FYF Festival in L.A. and the Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco in July and August, as well as a show at Lollapalooza in Chicago on the 3rd of August. In addition, they have a full slate of concerts throughout Europe this summer, including an appearance at Glasto in June, Down The Rabbit Hole in The Netherlands and Route du Rock in France.

As far as I can see, they are only booked to play three gigs in the States. So if I were you, and you either live in or plan to be around L.A., San Francisco or Chicago over the next couple of months, you have to set aside some time to see them.

Temples is a band well-worth the effort to catch – and for myself, it’s been a musical education, listening to the growth process that has taken place with them these last five years. Further evidence they are on to something, but also evidence they will be around for a while.

Play this one loud – I’m serious. It starts 14 seconds in, BTW.
