The She’s – in session for Pressure Drop.TV – June 16, 2016 – Pressure Drop TV –

The She’s, taking us on a one-way trip to the weekend. This comes via a session they did for PressureDrop.TV, a website you should know about if you want to check in and see what’s going on, musically. Lots of excellent stuff – think an American version of La Blogotheque, with killer sound.

Since the vast majority of music I play on these Soundbooth features comes by way of either the BBC or RNE in Madrid or RFI in Paris, I haven’t really paid a whole lot of attention to what’s up-and-coming in my own neighborhood; that being the West Coast. I was casually reminded of this one day as I perused the PressureDrop site and realized I haven’t been paying a whole lot of attention to bands you really should be knowing about, who you can probably see easier in a club in L.A. or the Bay Area than wait for one of the UK bands to tour the U.S. – in short, there’s a lot of good and worthy music out there – good to listen and spend time with – worthy of your hard earned dollars.

The She’s are a Bay Area band who have been together roughly ten years (forming while in the 7th grade), but it’s only been the past five or so years that they’ve been gathering an enthusiastic fan base and positive word-of-mouth. And at a time when all-Female bands are growing and expanding and jumping into other genres, hearing The She’s riff on Surf or dive into Shoegaze is downright fun. They have chops, riffs and harmonies and they are a band I have the feeling we’re going to be seeing and hearing a lot more of in the future. I also think Europe may fall in love with them; much the same way Europe has fallen in love with Hinds, a Spanish all-female Indie band from Madrid who have been festival favorites the past few years. Personally, The She’s are a tighter ensemble – while Hinds overflow with Spanish attitude – it would be fun to put them on the same bill. Perhaps it can happen – ya just never know.

If you aren’t familiar with The She’s you really need to get over to their Bandcamp page and check out their official releases (very nice stuff, with fantastic production) and drop a few coins in their direction. In the meantime, here’s a taste to get you started. While you’re at it, fall by their Facebook Page and see what they are up to, gig-wise.

Good stuff and it’s Summer!
