Skylights – in session for John Kennedy -X-Posure – Radio X – August 12, 2023 – Radio X, London –

Skylights in session tonight. Recorded just few days ago for John Kennedy’s X-Posure program on Radio X on August 12th.

Infusing brit pop and post punk influences from the likes of Oasis, Courteeners and The Verve, indie rock quartet Skylights are building a palpable buzz in the North. Following on from their debut single, ‘YRA’, which was featured on Leeds United 100-year anniversary video, on October the 17th 2019 Skylights played a sold out Millennium Square Leeds to celebrate Leeds United’s birthday.

Getting started in 2008 and like so many bands who were struggling through the COVID pandemic and lockdowns, Skylights kept it all together and utilized the down time to get material recorded and to plan for the future, even if it was loaded with uncertainty.

The result has been a large and growing fan base and a gig schedule that’s filling up with shows around the UK starting in September and going until (so far) November of this year.

The band are heavily influenced by the sounds of Leeds band – The Music, Manchester’s Oasis, Wigan’s The Verve as well as the punkier tones of the likes of Sex Pistols and The Clash.

As is evidenced by this session for John Kennedy, Skylights have a lot to say and are going about it very well. Not sure if there are U.S. dates in consideration, but like everything – you just never know.

In the meantime, crank this one up and get ready for Hump Day.

And while you’re here . . .you know we don’t run ads – stopped running them more than a few years ago. The ads were noisy and pretty awful and they were a huge distraction, having to wade through a lot of useless barking in order to get to the good stuff. But we still have to pay the bills, and there’s a ton of them and they don’t like to wait. And so we ask you consider becoming a subscriber and support all the stuff we do every day by kicking in what amounts to being an Americano Grande every month to be part of the solution and not the problem. In todays bizarre economy it ain’t much – but it means a ton to Past Daily. All you have to do (and we make this as simple and pain-free as possible) is head over to Patreon (that red box just below that says “Become A Patron” that you click on) and check us out. You can do 7 days free just to kick the tires and take a test drive. And if you like us, hit the subscribe button and become part of our rather haywire little family. Not bad, considering we just want you to like us.
