Some enduring Americana tonight by way of Leon Russell (and The Shelter People), recorded on February 5, 1971 by VPRO in Holland.

This was around the time (1970) Leon Russell exploded on the scene as part of the Mad Dogs & Englishmen tour with Joe Cocker. Taking that momentum and running with it, Russell turned in an impressive batch of great and memorable albums during the 1970s – which remain classics to this day.

So here is some vintage Leon Russell, as recorded in front of a reasonably sedate audience. But a great set nonetheless.
