Over to Turin this week for a concert by The Lausanne Chamber Orchestra featuring Christian Zacharias as conductor and soloist.

An all-Beethoven concert with the Piano concertos running in quick succession. This week it’s numbers 2, 3 and 4. Soloist and visiting Orchestra are in top form.

Here’s what’s on the players:

Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne

conductor and pianist Christian Zacharias

Ludwig van Beethoven

Part 1 (Top Player): Concerto in B flat major for piano and orchestra no. 2 op. 19th

Allegro con brio

– Adagio

– Rondo very cheerful

Ludwig van Beethoven

Part 2 (Bottom player): Concerto for piano and orchestra no. 3 inC minor, Op. 37th

– Allegro con brio

– Largo

– Rondo allegro

Ludwig van Beethoven

Concerto for piano and orchestra no. 4 inOp. 58th

– Allegro moderato

– Andante con moto

– Rondo lively

The concert was recorded last September in Turin by the venerable RAI Radio 3.

A hefty dose of Beethoven tonight, performed by one of the celebrated talents with one of the premier orchestras.

Doesn’t get too much better than that. Even the audience thought so.

BTW – Since the program originates in Italy, the announcements are in Italian. They’ve been edited down from the 2+ hours of the concert. So no need to drag out the Berlitz or Rosetta or call your uncle in Parma.
