And a Psychedelic word or two from Copenhagen tonight, by way of The Wands, a Danish Psych-duo (Mads and Christian and guest artists) who are relatively new on the scene (around since 2011) and currently in the process of touring Europe to promote their latest album, The Dawn which came out in November.
With vocals reminiscent of Sky Saxon of The Seeds, The Wands have been getting much word of mouth in their native Denmark, and are now getting the message out to a bigger audience with a tour of Europe and their first session appearance on 3FM in Amsterdam. They just finished a gig earlier this evening at Paradiso, and hopefully the venerable VPRO folks have recorded it for posterity and later broadcast. They are on their way later on this week to Paris and after that, Berlin. So it should be a busy schedule for the band and a lot of heads to turn around.
I’m looking forward to hearing more from this band. I don’t know if there are plans for them to head over to this side of the Atlantic, but in the meantime check out this session, recorded only three days ago.
