Keeping up the festive weekend with a concert by The Pretenders from Montreux in 1987. In the middle of the then-controversial Get Close Tour, this version of the Pretenders featured a different lineup than the original – and was leaning in a more Funk direction. Chrissie Hynde was to shortly disband this version of The Pretenders and emerge with a new lineup by the end of the year, before going on hiatus until 1990. So this concert is something of a rarity.
Still, no way getting around Chrissie Hynde, and unless you knew about the friction within the band, you’d never tell by listening to this concert. So it’s no excuse for you not to crank this one up and enjoy Saturday night while you’re at it.
