I have some amazing friends and supporters – people who know how important history and discovering the world around you is. I can only do so much. I’m only one link in a chain and I try to do what I can to be part of the solution, not part of the problem. Past Daily is around in the hopes you read more, listen more, discover more, understand more – I’m not in it for the money – I’m in it to try and leave the place in a little better shape than how I found it – to contribute. Some people do it with their hands, or their checkbooks, or their gifts of communication – I do it with a room full of history and the voices of people who came before us – I unearth, dig up, dust off and bring it back to life. I do it for everyone – not a select few – not just fans. I play no favorites, because history plays no favorites – it is what it is. So I do these Fundraisers once a year to get your financial support – to keep the process going. Your tax-deductible donations help keep history alive. Those of you who have chipped in your support so far know that – you understand. We’re all in this thing together and whatever we can do to help; that’s our job. Over the next six days I will be asking your support and contributions, chipping in what you can – and only if you can, to keep Past Daily going – to keep history alive. I happen to think ignorance of our past isn’t so much a crime as it is a shame – and that it’s not a question of judging, but understanding. Read a book, listen to music you haven’t heard before, talk to somebody, take chances, ask questions. Life is very short, but it’s terribly wide. Step out of your comfort zone, even if it’s for a minute. It’s worth it.
