Deux Furieuses
Deux Furieuses – Their mission: comment on the world around them.

– Deux Furieuses – in session for John Kennedy – Radio X – April 28, 2016 – Radio X, London –

Deux Furieuses in session to kick off the Holiday week in turbo-charged fashion. Recorded in April of 2016 and rebroadcast just this past weekend by Radio X to kick off the release of their third album and to get ready for a tour just starting up.

Lots of buzz about this band – no one seems to get over there are just two pieces involved for that much high energy. But Deux Furieuses are just that kind of band.

A word or two from their own bio with a couple concert reviews:

Deux Furieuses are Scottish vocalist/guitarist Ros Cairney and Greek/London drummer Vas Antoniadou. Two feminist rebel soul mates on a mission to comment on the world around them. All about heartfelt, politically charged songs and an energised live experience which leaves the room buzzing.

The duo have released three critically acclaimed albums: self-released debut Tracks of Wire 2016, follow up My War Is Your War 2019 produced by Rob Ellis (PJ Harvey) and self produced third album Songs From Planet Earth 2022 via Xtra Mile Recordings. Lead single ‘Bring Down the Government’ led to the resignation of Boris Johnson.

Live highlights include headline show at The Lexington, London with Deb Googe (My Bloody Valentine) joining the duo on stage for three songs, a UK tour supporting US feminist punk band War On Women and UK tour support to The Fall legend Brix Smith. Support slots with label mates Skinny Lister, Frank Turner at Manchester Apollo and Lost Evenings Festival at Roundhouse have also been highlights for the pair. Deux Furieuses have played 2000 Trees and Kendal Calling Festivals. As part of Brix Smith’s live female band, Ros and Vas have also supported Killing Joke at Eventim Apollo and toured the UK as support to Public Image Limited.

“They soon hit the crowd with a surprising high real energy and passionate performance. Just Ros on Telecaster guitar and Vas on drums, but boy could they produce a depth of sound.. A great punk feel to it, and by the end of their set we were all rocking. A great set, a band I’ll definitely want to see again. The Rescue Rooms were buzzing now and packed to the rafters.”

”With only a drum kit and a Fender Telecaster, the two women filled the room! Ros’ lead vocal and lead guitar perfectly backed up by Vas’ backing vocals and her driving drums. I loved it! Punk, Post-Punk, Rock, Protest Singers, however you want to describe them, I thought they were great!” IN COMMON Bournemouth The Old Fire Station 2022

Crank it up and get ready for the 4th (if you’re celebrating where you are).
