Although I am sure more tribute concerts are planned for the coming weeks, this one is actually from January this year – as a tribute to the living Francoise Hardy not a memorial. Probably the best kind – celebrate people you love who have been an inspiration while they’re alive – doubtless, they don’t hear it after they’ve gone.
This concert, broadcast live on January 28th of this year features an all-star cast of French musicians, artists and prominent in their own genres, all coming together to celebrate an artist whose music transcended place and time and genre – the words and the music; timeless.
Hosted by Radio France International (and actually still available via their In Concert podcasts, along with a LOT of other amazing artists from the International stage) it features Clara Luciani, Thomas Dutronc (son of Francoise Hardy), November Ultra, Philippe Katerine, Voyou, Keren Ann, Albin de la Simone, Hubert Lenoir, P.R2B, Pi Ja Ma and the Astral Bakers – names you may not be familiar with, this side of the Atlantic but all artists of note throughout Europe.
Almost two hours long it is the perfect example of the timeless quality of the music of Francoise Hardy and just how much an inspiration she was and continues to be.
