Florian Mailet of Edinburgh Of The Seven Seas – Improvising but with a method to the madness.

Starting off the week with a session from Edinburgh Of The Seven Seas, recorded at Sun Music Addict in Nantes on May 16th of this year. Sun is, as far as I know, a streaming, online station located in Nantes, France. And this particular session comes from Sun Music Addict, which is a regular featuring focusing on local bands and artists and grabbing some who are just passing through.

Edinburgh Of The Seven Seas is the solo project of Florian Mailet; singer, guitarist and writer, FILADE, ex-Mudbath). After a first ambient guitar-focused LP ” – Inlandsis – ” (2015), EOTSS recorded a multi-instrumental LP named “L’âtre et l’enfant” (2017). Waiting for the end of the writing of a third record, EOTSS put online a 30 minutes track of improvised music from a live at Pandora cinema in Avignon (feb 2018).

General consensus of opinion is that Edinburgh of the Seven Seas is a real oceanic and musical journey to the heart of the 90s, somewhere between rock, folk and shoegaze.

Aside from knowing the band is from Avignon, France and have been sticking pretty close to home as far as gigs are concerned. They’re getting a good word-of-mouth going and maybe this appearance on Sun Music Addict sheds a bit more light on an up-and-coming band.

We’ll see – in the meantime, press play and have a listen.
