Ending up the week with a musical tribute to Tryptophan. A track from the legendary Jazz Pianist Ahmad Jamal, accompanied by a 15 piece string section in a session he recorded for Argo Records and released in 1966.
This is the title cut from the album I Hear A Rhapsody – Ahamd Jamal With Strings.
Seemingly the holy grail for just about every Jazz musician of note in the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s – to record an album with a string section.
Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, but in Jamal’s case it does. And it makes for a very mellow and colorful excursion.
Perfect end to a Holiday week, now that the bedlam has subsided.
