Fuzzy Grass from this year’s Freak Valley Festival in Germany – recorded on July 15 by RBB in Berlin.
Starting off the week with a dose of Psych from France by way of Fuzzy Grass.
Fuzzy Grass (as the name might suggest) are French Psychedelia from Toulouse that got started in the Pyrenees Mountains in 2015.
With two studio albums and one live album to their credit plus a lot of gigging and Festival appearances for the past nine years, Fuzzy Grass is starting to become better known around Europe and gaining a reputation as one of the must-see stoner bands in recent years.
Like a lot of bands, going the slow and methodical route is yielding results – but also like of lot of artists and bands lately, getting rich is not an instant nor a conceivable reality. And seeing what Spotify and other streaming services are raking in, and not sharing, is giving some indication that the only way a band can make it these days is by gigging, selling merchandise, getting the word out, twisting arms doing radio sessions, having your gigs on websites (like this one) and generally doing what needs to be done in order to get the message across.
Without question, if you like what you are hearing, by all means support it – we’ve all been there and we all know we cannot survive on this planet without music.
If the mainstream is your go-to medium; nothing wrong with that – but Art, Music and Creativity are big tents and a lot of people have a lot to say and they all add to your life in large and small ways. It’s up to us to show love and support and to encourage.
You may or may not like Fuzzy Grass, as a band or a genre, but the fact they exist is something to celebrate. We’re all in this thing together – the least we can do is give a thumbs up and be part of the solution.
So do what you can – show some love and support – head over to their Bandcamp page and soak up some tunes and goodies – if you’re in Europe or heading over there, check them out if they are gigging somewhere around you.
In the meantime, press Play and dive in – promises to be a roller-coaster this week. Music helps.
