– Get Well Soon at Berlin Trafo – Jan. 13, 2013
Heading into the middle of the week with a band (artist) we’re not hearing a whole lot about lately. Get Well Soon is the brainchild of Konstantin Gropper who started it in 2003 and, according to Wikipedia, still appears to be going strong even though it doesn’t look like anything new has come out since 2022.
That said, I ran across the concert, recorded live at Berlin Trafo on January 14, 2013 and it stuck with me the better part of the past two days. So it must be a sign that I share it in case you missed it the first time around, or never heard of Get Well Soon or Konstantin Gropper in the first place.
At the time of this concert, Get Well Soon was getting a lot of enthusiastic press around Europe (can’t vouch for the U.S. even though I’m sure a few of you know) and Gropper, who is something of a multi-talent anyway, was branching into doing Film scoring – among them Wim Wenders’ Palermo and the French TV series Xanadu.
His 6th album, Amen was released in 2022 and I can’t comment on it because I haven’t heard it.
Get Well Soon is one of those multi-layered bands that tap on a number of musical resources; all of them compelling and satisfying. Although Gropper’s lyrics hover around the dark, they aren’t trite and they really say something – which is part of the reason they’ve enjoyed a lot of good press and enthusiastic audiences around Europe.
So here they are in a mini-concert setting, exactly as it was the night of January 13, 2013 and captured by, I believe BRR in Berlin.
Too much music, so little time – press play and dive in. It’s all good.
