High Hi – A dose of Belgian Indie

Over to Belgium this week for a concert by High Hi, a Belgian Indie group recorded live at Ancienne Belgique on February 28, 2026

Here’s a rundown on the band, translated from their Wikipedia page:

In 2014 High Hi, the band from the outskirts of Brussels was selected for Studio Brussel ‘s De Nieuwe Lichting , and that same year High Hi reached the finals of Humo’s Rock Rally . In 2014, the band toured with Novastar as a support act. Joost Zweegers got to know them as a jury member of the Rock Rally.  In 2016, the band became one of the artists in residence at music centre Trix .  Their music is a blend of different styles and has evolved. Melodies are important and usually cheerful, the lyrics sometimes somber. Ooghe and Beerten sing in two-part harmony, alternating vocals.

In 2015, the instrumental debut single Calm Down Sir was released, which was picked up by BBC DJ Steve Lamacq , among others .

In late 2016, the band recorded the debut album Hindrance under the direction of Reinhard Vanbergen and Niek Meul of Das Pop . The first single from the album Island Full Of Gold was released in January 2017. The album itself was released in March.

The new album Return to Dust was released on April 29, 2022. It was produced in collaboration with Daan Schepers once again. It was presented in its entirety on May 1, 2022, during a concert in the Box at Ancienne Belgique .

A few days later, an interview and live performance in the Netherlands followed at 3voor12Radio .  The group performed as support act for Arsenal at the Lotto Arena in May 2022.  In 2022, the band performed at Crammerock , Rock Werchter , and Pukkelpop , among others . During the summer of 2023, they played at various festivals such as Suikerrock , Cactusfestival , and Dour Festival . In 2024, they supported Eefje de Visser at Paradiso .

In April 2025, the single Running was released, and their new album Noonday Demon just came out.
