Since we ran Melenas last night, a band who have cited Hinds as major influences, here’s a chance to check out Hinds themselves as they were during the SOS 4.8 festival in Murcia, Spain on May 1, 2015.
Originally known as The Deers, until a threatened lawsuit by another band by the same name forced them to change it, Hinds have been getting a lot of word of mouth since they embarked on their world tour in 2015.
With their blend of lo-fi/garage rock, they’ve been endearing themselves to audiences at most every festival they’ve played at and on every radio outlet in-between.
With news in 2022 that Hinds went back to being a duo, Carlotta Cosials (vocals, guitar) and Ana García Perrote (vocals, guitar), since the departure of bassist Ade Martin and drummer Amber Grimbergen – latest word is Ade Martin has emerged as a new solo entity under the name Shanghai Baby, already grabbing a lot of interest and attention.
In early 2024, Hinds completed work on their fourth studio album. On 28 February 2024, Hinds released a new song called “Coffee”[47] and on 7 May 2024, Hinds released another new song called Boom Boom Back, which features Beck. They also announced on that same day that their fourth album, Viva Hinds, was released on 6 September 2024. The album’s third single, “En Forma”, was released on 12 June 2024, the fourth single, “Superstar”, was released on 23 July 2024, and the fifth single, “The Bed, the Room, the Rain and You”, was released on 14 August 2024. Following the release of Viva Hinds Rolling Stone Magazine listed Viva Hinds in their 100 Best Albums of 2024 at 81.
