Objections – in session for Riley&Coe – BBC 6 Music – July 10, 2023 – BBC –
From their Bandcamp page:
“Objections tonight. From Leeds, were born during THAT time. Way back at the beginning of the ’20s an awful lot was being wound down, born, and reborn. Humans were renegotiating their own futures with themselves and long running DIY legends Bilge Pump were put (peacefully) on hiatus. For over two decades the Bilge Pump group have crossed our paths, playing, partying and touring with all the bands we’ve been in. We did Peel Sessions together, we filmed each other dancing on ceilings, we even interviewed Joe whilst he was wet shaving out of a bucket backstage somewhere in the middle of France. The history goes way back. Put simply: we love those nutnecks. But now was the time for rebirth and Joe and Neil, along with Claire from Beards and Nape Neck – 2 more Leeds trios of excellence – formed Objections.
Objections went from email discussion to playing live with no hesitation. It’s in their blood. However, this speed of movement doesn’t mean a continuation of previous endeavours. Objections are a different proposition – perhaps catchier (BSA Day will be sung by roomfuls of folk up and down the country before the year’s out, mark our words), perhaps not quite as obtuse. Somehow the message seems more direct. We can’t deny it though: the DNA of the three members’ past and present bands is there. And let’s not kid ourselves either, we love it all the more for it.
Their debut 7″ will be followed later in the year by a debut album. Genuinely excited by the prospect. Go see them live. Learn the words. Sing along.”
Over to you.
And while you’re here . . .you know we don’t run ads – stopped running them more than a few years ago. The ads were noisy and pretty awful and they were a huge distraction, having to wade through a lot of useless barking in order to get to the good stuff. But we still have to pay the bills, and there’s a ton of them and they don’t like to wait. And so we ask you consider becoming a subscriber and support all the stuff we do every day by kicking in what amounts to being an Americano Grande every month to be part of the solution and not the problem. In todays bizarre economy it ain’t much – but it means a ton to Past Daily. All you have to do (and we make this as simple and pain-free as possible) is head over to Patreon (that red box just below that says “Become A Patron” that you click on) and check us out. You can do 7 days free just to kick the tires and take a test drive. And if you like us, hit the subscribe button and become part of our rather haywire little family. Not bad, considering we just want you to like us.
