A wild entry to the new year.

Sometimes you run across things that are so crazy and all-over-the-place that you have to share them. Earlier in the day, right in the middle of looking for what would normally be the Mid-Week concert post, I ran across this three and a half hour extravaganza from Radio Nacional de España (Radio 3) – their New Years Eve show for 2011. Three hours of the most eclectic and downright addictive music I’ve run across in ages. Further evidence radio ain’t dead in other parts of the world.

Forget that the dj’s are all Spanish and the only English you will hear are the 50’s R&B classics which are worth the price of admission alone – this is brilliant stuff. Mixed in with the Spanish discs are Mexican discs, Cuban discs, French discs – new as well as old – American R&B – just about everything with an infectious rhythm to keep you going full-stop for the next three hours. And clearly the dj’s love music, because most all the really old things are original discs, no doubt brought in from their collections and they are playing live on the air (hence some rough discs, but some fantastic music).

The only thing I can say is, crank this up and let it roll.

It’s party time. 2026, bring it on!
