The Ramones – live at The Club, Cambridge Mass. – May 12, 1976 –
It’s the Monday morning before Christmas, and I will bet you are most likely going insane with packing, leaving and going someplace; either driving and looking at weather reports or stuck in traffic on the way to the airport and wondering if you’re going to miss the flight – or doing last minute Christmas shopping, dodging freak-outs and and racking your brain over how much is left on your credit card – or avoiding answering the phone, preferring to forget the whole thing and wish everybody else would – or crawling out of bed wondering if it’s the day after Christmas yet.
Any and/or all of these things need some motivation – things to get you moving, or at least upright and functioning.
And that’s where this concert by The Ramones comes in. Recorded live at The Club in Cambridge Massachusetts on May 12, 1976 it’s a healthy blast of high-voltage with music, rather than an air-horn, to get you up and running and ready to face the week and holidays in general.
So our little contribution to your peace of mind, or your cue to get motivated comes from the right place at the right time, compliments of The Ramones this morning.
My suggestion, of course, is to crank this up and leave it on – put it on repeat – take it with you – play it in the car. As long as everybody around you is going insane, so can you – but in a good way.
Hit play and you don’t need to thank me, honest.
And maybe a little shameless self-promotion you can look at, or not:
Holy crap – 2024 is almost over already. Past Daily is still standing, still cranking out history and pop culture and still looking for your support. Fundraisers are pretty much tapped out this year – everybody seems to be doing them and even I’m sick of being hounded for money.
But the fact of the matter is – some of these things are expensive to pull off. In case you didn’t already know, Past Daily is an extension of my archive – the stuff I have collected since the beginning of time (it seems) – my goal is to share all of it with you, and since we’ve started there are over 11,000 posts which you, as a subscriber can explore and there are thousands more waiting.
Better still – once you subscribe you get notified every time we post something and you can download the audio file which you can’t do if you don’t subscribe. That’s the catch.
But it’s my way of saying Thank You for your support and helping me pay all the costs of keeping Past Daily up and running every day.
And subscribing is easy and painless – you can do it with Patreon – you can stretch it out over months, years or just today. You can do a trial subscription for 7 days and then you can either join us or go “no thanks” and life will continue.
But your support is critical. Over this past year we’ve resumed running ads – simply because it’s helping offset the costs we can’t get around, but don’t have enough subscribers to do away with ads completely (believe me, I hate ads just as much as the next person – maybe more). Right now, a little over 100 of you are foregoing a cup of Starbucks in favor of downloading a concert or a World War 2 newscast – and I am completely over-the-moon for your support. But we need more of you. We need 900 more to make a difference.
So all you have to do is click on the red banner below and make your pledge – you can also do Pay Pal or Buy Me A Coffee if you just want to do a one-time support.
But however you decide to do it, we’re grateful. We’ll be here as long as you are.
