Alice Wonder
Alice Wonder – possessor of innate talent.

Alice Wonder – Live At La Radio Encenida Festival 2023 – March 19, 2023 – Radio Nacional España –

It just so happens . . .I originally planned to run only one concert from the Radio Encenida Festival. But then, I kept running across more astonishing performances and quickly realized I had run across a treasure-trove of truly gifted and incredible talent; all relatively new on the scene, all coming from Spain, all part of that developing scene which is in the beginning stages of making a difference in the world of music and performance.

Alice Wonder is a standout artist in a league of standout artists; all who have something different to say, look at their art through different points of view – yet are absolutely committed to enhancing the complex and engaging world of music – not mattering in the least if the lyrics are English or not – that has now become a moot point. Color me relieved.

Alice Wonder’s voice is so evocative and the sheer intensity of how she grabs and shapes a song is so engaging that mere words are secondary. She gives 110% to a performance – you can feel her raw emotion raise the hair on the back of your neck, as it repeatedly did to me as I was listening to this concert.

And she’s only 24 – just turned 24 – where does all this visceral energy come from? Like Erin Memento last night or Verde Prato from a few days ago – these are artists with a lot to say and have a limitless pallette to say it from.

At the risk of going overboard, I’m just relieved that there are artists out there who have no intention of being carbon-copies of whoever was popular last week. It’s women like these who make a difference and should be heard no matter what.

Despite the rest of the world going insane – sanity is alive and well and breathing life in the form of music.

Alice Wonder is certainly testament to that.

Press Play and dive into this (sadly short) concert from this past March 19th and captured for posterity by Radio Nacional España.

And please, check out her albums, buy her t-shirts, show your support. It’s the least we can do.

Honest.
