New bands this morning. New Dad from Galway, Ireland, live at TRNSMT festival in Glasgow recorded on July 13th by BBC 6 Music.
Proudly part of what is rapidly becoming a Shoegaze revival (didn’t know it ever really went away in the first place), New Dad have been gaining a sold fanbase since they got together in 2021. And like most everyone in a band, starting a band, thinking about a band, much got put on hold during the COVID pandemic and subsequent lockdown. But New Dad, like many artists and bands in a similar situation, used the time to hone, craft and plan.
The result has been an emerging band generating a lot of excitement and positive press, coupled with a debut album, Madra which dropped on January 26th of this year and kicking off a tour which goes until November and lands New Dad in the States (they come to L.A. on October 29th with a gig at The Echo, so getcher tickets) for a few quick dates before heading back at the end of November, or November so far – if new dates are added check their website. Check their website anyway because you can stay informed, pick up their debut album, grab some goodies and get on their mailing list.
In the meantime, have a listen and enjoy. If New Dad are an indication of what’s on the horizon, we’re in some pretty good places.
Always something new to discover – just keep open and keep listening.
Press Play.
As you probably know by now, Past Daily is going through a few changes. Over the past several months we’ve been introducing new features and losing old ones. We’ve begun to run ads, only because we really need the income to stay online and hope this isn’t a problem. Of course, if you consider subscribing and becoming a Patron via Patreon, you get the posts ad-free and the option to download all the audio we post here – our way of saying thank you for your support. Joining Patreon is easy and we’ve made it even easier for you by offering you a free trial to kick the tires, as it were. All you have to do is click on the red box just below, the one that says Become A Patron, and be part of the family. We’ll be offering more perks as time goes on – but we need to get stable first and we can only do that with your support. So do everybody a favor and join us – we’d love to have you!
And there’s always coffee and PayPal:
