Getting out of the comfort zone this holiday week, and heading over to Paris and Studio 104 at Radio France International for a concert by Feu! Chatterton – recorded on October 16th of this year.
If you’re not already familiar with Past Daily’s Lunchroom excursions overseas to hear what other folks in the world are up to, we do this semi-regularly to give you an idea that we’re a lot closer than you think and further proof Music, all music, is a universal language that, maybe isn’t your native tongue but is someone’s else’s, is a language of the heart that needs no translation in order to reach you. All we ask is to keep an open mind and accepting we’re on this boat together and we share a common bond.
So there you go.
Feu! Chatterton has been around since 2011. Feu! Chatterton was formed by singer Arthur Teboul, and its lineup includes Antoine Wilson on bass, Clément Doumic on guitars and keyboards, Raphaël De Pressigny on drums, and Sébastien Wolf on guitars and keyboards. Teboul was inspired by the French singers Léo Ferré, George Brassens, and Serge Gainsbourg, and the band was influenced by rock artists such as Neil Young and Radiohead.
In 2015, they released their debut album, the critically acclaimed Ici le jour (a tout enseveli), having previously issued the EPs Feu! Chatterton (2014) and Bic Medium (2015). They followed it with L’Oiseleur in 2018 and Palais d’argile in 2021.
They have a website, which you might want to investigate – and they have a store, stacked with goodies from Vinyl to hoodies which make great conversation starters and give an aura of coolness that you’re the only kid on the block who “knows who Feu! Chatterton are”. Bragging rights are always essential to have.
Press Play and hang out for an hour – grab a baguette and relax.
