Ending the week with a concert from Massive Attack – recorded at Clifton Downs, Bristol on August 25, 2024.
One of my top-ten favorite bands of all time (meaning decades), Massive Attack are one of the truly original, consistently mesmerizing bands ever to perform on a stage. I can never say enough about them because I can never say enough good about them. They have always struck me as the thing we’ve been waiting for, or as I often call it “the next logical step”. They have taken forms and genres of music and have made them their own – there are no artists that sound like them and no artists who have nearly the same affect that they have; whether in a live concert setting or listening to your CD, stream or vinyl of Mezzanine for the thousandth time.
I’m keeping the comments to a bare minimum because I have said everything that’s needed to be said over the years, each time I post a new Massive Attack concert (which has been pretty often). You just need to spend some time with them, cancelling the outside world, turning all the distractions off and just diving in.
To end a week of madness – an hour and forty minutes worth of sanity in the form of Massive Attack – there is hope, after all.
