Over to Madrid tonight for a set by Janire, a name that has been grabbing attention from a lot of sectors of late – this concert comes via the 11 hour La Radio Encendida 2025 marathon from just a few weeks ago – this set was recorded March 25, 2025 and broadcast live on RNE Radio 3. I will be running a number of emerging artists in Spain over the next few weeks. La Radio Encendida has proven to a showcase for new and noteworthy talent currently filling concert halls and clubs and doing sessions via Radio 3 in Madrid.

A few words and accolades from the Spanish Press:

Janire started her musical journey in her teens, playing in local punk and pop bands. After moving to Madrid, she made a name for herself in the city’s acoustic circuit. In 2021, she recorded “Cuaderno de Verano” with Brian Hunt.

In 2023, Janire marked a new chapter with the release of “Buenos Días,” showcasing a sound that resonates with her musical influences, which range from St. Vincent to Lorde, and include projects like Ex:Re and Merina Gris from the national scene. She is currently gearing up to release her debut LP, “Las Huidas,” in collaboration at production with with Álex Moreno and Pablo Fergus.

The Biscayan Janire is one of the national revelation artists we’ve talked about in the last year, thanks to the impact of anthems such as ‘ Pixel Negro II ‘ or ‘ 1AM ‘. Janire Bermejo’s proposal differentiates itself from the norm thanks to a powerful and voracious sound reminiscent of the electronic rock that groups like Garbage practiced in the 90s. ‘1AM’ and ‘Pixel Negro II’, two of her anthems, are included in her debut album, ‘Las Huidas’, published by Mushroom Pillow at the end of 2024.

Janire—who is from Barakaldo but lives in Madrid—has gone through different phases before joining ‘ Las Huidas ‘: she was the bassist for Repion, she has worked with musicians associated with Amaral and Dani Fernández, and, long before that, she took her first steps in music playing in pop and punk bands.

Last January, she kicked off Inverfest, opening for La Bien Querida . Now she’s put together a show that, she says, isn’t very common around here right now. “It’s ugly for me to say this, but the live show is really cool. Live, it has more nuances and contributions: I use a lot of effects on the guitar. There will be a lot of details that will be generated in the moment,” she concludes excitedly.

I think we can all agree, the future is in good hands.
