Over to Madrid this week for a concert with Orquesta Sinfonica de RTVE conducted by Rafael Payarè and featuring wunderkind/wiz-kid/Accordion virtuoso Ander Telleria in a concert of music by Beethoven, Francaix and Sibelius.
The real attraction on this concert is the Francaix Concerto for Accordion and Orchestra, which is seldom heard. Ander Telleria is something of a prodigy and handles it with great success. So it’s something to definitely to check out. The concert was recorded by the ever-dependable Radio Nacional Espana Radio Clasica.
As for everything else . . .here’s what’s on the players:
Orquesta Sinfónica y Coro de RTVE
Concierto IV del XIII Ciclo de Jóvenes Músicos.
Galardonados del Concurso Permanente de Jóvenes
Intérpretes. Juventudes Musicales de España.
Transmisión directa desde el Teatro Monumental de
Madrid.
Part 1 (top player):
1. BEETHOVEN: Fidelio, Op. 72, Obertura Leonora nº 1,
Op. 138.
2. FRANÇAIX: Concierto para acordeón y
orquesta.
Part 2 (bottom player)
1. SIBELIUS: Sinfonía nº 2 en Re mayor, Op.
43. Ander Tellería (acordeón), Orq. Sinf. de RTVE. Dir.: Rafael
Payarè.
Standard fare, save for the Francix but a good concert nonetheless. Announcements are in Spanish and the crowd demands an encore from Tellaria.
All good fun for a Wednesday Anti-Road Rage concert.
