Our Royal Displeasure
Our Royal Displeasure – perfect blend and mashup

New faces tonight – Our Royal Displeasure is a band from Hastings in the UK – have just released their debut album, Salt and have made a brief appearance at BBC Introducing on November 14th with a session via the Live Lounge.

According to their Bandcamp page:

“Sticky melodies, smart lyrics, cinematic synths and saturated guitars, Our Royal Displeasure is alternative & art-rock mixed with progressive & psych rock and electronica. Influenced by Radiohead, QOTSA, Bowie; Johnny Wells with co-writer/producer Tommy Kaefel and joined live by Aram Zarikian, Laura Matthews & Rachel Dawson sounds like a crafty cocktail of Gary Numan, XTC, Peter Gabriel & Blur”.

Our Royal Displeasure take their name from the proclamation of Neptune at the Crossing the Line ceremony. With sticky melodies, smart lyrics, cinematic synths and saturated guitars, the band’s debut record ‘SALT’ lands somewhere between Radiohead and Queens of the Stone Age.

Formed in 2023 by Johnny Wells and producer Thomas Kaefel, Our Royal Displeasure is built from elements of alternative and art-rock, and mixes in progressive rock, post-punk and electronica. With the live drums of Aram Zarikian, the voices and bass sounds of Laura Matthews and Rachel Dawson along with Rachel’s charged-up cello lines, O.R.D. are making a truly unique noise on the South Coast of England.

Here they are in session and head over to their Bandcamp page and grab stuff. They would certainly appreciate it.
