Rage Against The Machine to end out the week – recorded at City Square in Milan on June 10, 1993 by RAI Radio Planet Rock.
Music of Anger and Outrage – the times call for it. A lot have shied away or don’t want to get involved. Some step up to the plate and let feelings be known, in no uncertain terms.
Listening to this 1993 broadcast from Italian Radio, I thought it was just as apropos today in 2026 as it was in June of 1993 – definitely more so. The anger is boiling, the message is a mirror image. Maybe it’s unsettling, too hostile, too negative – no. The times are calling for outrage – all over the world it’s in a state of turmoil and the collective voice is yelling “enough”.
And Music fits right in. Can’t forget there has always been that ability to shake up and disturb/motivate that only music can do – the voices, the words – they convey the anger in ways most where other avenues don’t quite succeed. And those words bring power – make no mistake.
Rage Against The Machine cuts right to the heart of the matter – makes it crystal clear – leaves no questions. Anger; pure and simple – but anger to motivate – to engage – to look for the solution. Because that’s the standard we have to hold ourselves to; we’re part of the problem or part of the solution. It’s been that way for a very long time – our history – our culture comes out of that. Especially in America where our founding has been based on anger and looking for the solution. That’s who we are. We forgot about that for a long time – we’ve settled for complacency – lulled into acceptance that what we’re being handed is the way it is and always meant to be. And the lies pile up like debris.
So as we head into the weekend and into the coming week, be reminded that whatever anger you are feeling you’re not alone.
