April 18, 2016 – Report From The Crowdfunding Trenches

Trenches - World War 1
You could say we’re up to our knees in it.

Here’s the latest report from the crowdfunding trenches:

It’s the start of a new week and another round of pitching and asking. The weekend was hopeful, with many of you taking time out to chip in what you can – it’s appreciated more than you can imagine. Every dollar you contribute to help keep Past Daily running also helps us continue the preservation and restoration of thousands of hours of historic broadcasts, news, interviews, music and Pop Culture – the history you hear here every day. It’s a lot of work, but it’s important and it does a service, not only to those of you browse through and enjoy, but for those of you doing research, or fact finding – it’s a valuable service for a lot of reasons. That’s why  it’s crucial to keep Past Daily up and running and to keep the archive busy, making sure all the fragile artifacts of historic events don’t deteriorate and disappear.

If you’ve visited Past Daily lately, you realize we don’t put up click-bait – we don’t toss a lot of distractions on your screen – we don’t plaster ads all over what you’re trying to read. We have ads, but they’re small ones, and ones that don’t distract you from what you’ve come here for – information, something interesting and rare. Unfortunately, ads are what keep most sites running – they pay for what you come to see, listen to and download for free.  But ads can be tricky and they don’t often pay what most people think they do. Most ads on many sites pay tenths of cents, which barely cover the cost of electricity for an hour.  So, in order to keep a site like Past Daily up and running it takes a daily commitment and contributions from people like you, people who like and support what we do, to make a difference and to help out. And, for those of you who are wondering; I put money where my mouth is. Because I believe in what Past Daily is all about, the money I make from my work as a producer, writer and consultant in my other life goes into maintaining the site and to keep Past Daily up and running. But I can’t do it alone, and that’s why I have become affiliated with Fractured Atlas, a non-profit umbrella organization which allows me to take advantage of offering you a Tax Deduction for the money you chip in to help me keep this thing going. I’m asking for your help – and I wouldn’t ask you to do anything I don’t already do; to step up and chip in for something you find useful – to be able to keep history alive and vital – to be able to contribute to something that has lasting effect and tries to make a difference. That’s what it’s all about for me and that’s why I’m asking you to chip in what you can and tell your friends. We’re almost a quarter of the way to our goal – and I know with your help we can make it.

Click on the link in the box below or click on the Fractured Atlas logo to the right of this page and make your tax deductible contribution – big or small, we need it all. It takes a minute but lasts a lifetime. Stop me before I cliche myself into a coma.

Till next time,

Gordon
