Reports from Mutual Broadcasting – December 7, 1941 – Gordon Skene Sound Collection. –
This day; this Sunday 73 years ago, we joined the rest of the world engulfed in War. For the U.S., World War 2 had officially begun.
So much has been written, viewed, speculated and pondered over that anything additional would be superfluous and almost unnecessary, so instead I’ve let the events speak for themselves.
Here are some bulletins and analysis given as news was coming in of the Japanese attack on the U.S. Naval base at Pearl Harbor. At the time, it wasn’t clear either what the extent of damage or loss of life was, or whether it was just the beginning of a wave of attacks which would eventually come to the West Coast of the U.S. – at the time nobody knew.
But one thing was certain – on Sunday December 7th 1941, we were no longer watching from the sidelines everyone else engage in war, we were now right in the middle of it.
Here are three reports from Mutual Broadcasting, as heard on December 7, 1941.
