Getting ready for the weekend with a dive back to 1997 and a memorable appearance of Echo & The Bunnymen from Glastonbury 1997.
This concert, from Glastonbury during the Summer of ’97 features that newly resurrected incarnation. A continuation of the one which began in 1978 as a Post-Punk outfit, wandering in the direction of new-Psychedelia, now with the added pastiche of experience.
After their initial breakup in 1993, the members went their separate ways with lead singer Ian McCulloch enjoying a popular solo career. But Echo & The Bunnymen as as group were special and had a unique and highly influential sound. And even though the band have gone through a number of personnel changes over the years, the basic core of their sound hasn’t changed.
So whether you’re long-term fans or are hearing them for the first time, here is a sample of them as they were in 1997.
Rather timeless bunch, I would say.
