Getting the middle of the week straightened out with a set by Woomb, recorded at this year’s Eurosonic Festival in Groningen on March 10.

The newly formed duo Woomb, based between London and Sofia Bulgaria, features singer-songwriter Hristo Yordanov and composer/producer Gueorgui Linev, founder of Billboard-charting project Kan Wakan. The name of the duo refers to the unspoken and unsatisfied hunt for a love that we treasure. A love as limitless as the one we have felt in the womb.

Formed after a random encounter at a house party, they found a shared love for artists like Cocteau Twins, Björk, Slowdive and Portishead. At the end of 2023 they played their first gigs and released debut single ‘Last Rays’, accompanied by a video combining Bulgarian pagan symbols, Greek mythology and biblical elements. Their debut EP came out in November 2024. Their debut album is slated for release later on this year.

Woomb has already made waves across Europe, with appearances at ESNS, MENT, MMB, SoAlive, and showcases across Serbia, Croatia, Hungary, and beyond. They were recently nominated for the 2025 Music Moves Europe Award and shortlisted for Most Promising Name of the Year by Kaltblut Magazine and IMPALA.

Woomb’s live show is a ritual — part concert, part fever dream — where emotional depth meets raw sonic force. With growing international recognition and a truly global creative vision, Woomb is not just one to watch. They’re already here.

The positive response has been universal and the momentum is only winding up. I think it would be safe to say, that with all the downsides that have been stomping through this year so far, something that offers a glimmer of enthusiasm and promise that things aren’t so bad, is always welcome. In this case, welcome with open arms.

Since they’ve already done SXSW they are no strangers to American audiences, so it’s a safe bet America might be visited soon by this astonishing new breath of fresh air. Although . . .as seems to be the case with the current situation we’re facing over here, America as a destination for bands overseas might be put on indefinite hold.

We’ll see. In the meantime . . .
