I was going to run this over the weekend, but it grabbed me tonight and I took it as a sign.
Alba Gil Aceytuno aka: Pleito is a remarkable talent whose career has been getting notice all over Europe (not the U.S. yet) and with every good reason. The dreamlike quality of performances and the spacious landscape she resides in are captivating and breath life from every pore. In short- she gives me hope.

Alba Gil Aceytuno was born in Las Palmas de GC in 1997. She began playing the saxophone at the age of 9, growing up in a very music-loving environment.
She dedicated herself to classical music until the age of 18, graduating with honors in the professional degree program at the Conservatory of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
She ventured into modern music and improvisation on his own, creating the still-active band Zumurrud. Shortly after, she moved to the Netherlands to study jazz at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague, graduating in 2020.
She has participated in various projects of different musical styles such as Los Hermanos Thioune, Tamara Baas, Amaguk, Don’t Cut the tree, the Gran Canaria Big Band or Lucy Woodward and the Rocketeers, recording albums with some of them.
In 2021 she presented her personal project ‘Aguayro’.
She has performed at festivals such as Canarias Jazz&Mas and North Sea Jazz, among others, as well as in many venues in the Canary Islands and throughout Spain.
She is currently part of the band Rupatrupa, having toured several times in Spain and Latin America with them.
Alba’s latest solo project is Pleito: In this journey, Alba accompanies herself solely with her saxophone, her voice, and various effects and loops. With these, she creates a universe that blends the trance of circular breathing with lyrics born from introspection and a pure, unadulterated conflict with everything.
The repertoire also reinvents songs from Canarian folklore, embracing melodies and lyrics that unite us with this territory and its culture.
